Terms of service

These terms govern your use of the Morsel mobile app and the morseltracker.app website (“we”, “us”). By downloading, purchasing or using Morsel, you agree to them.

01The deal

Morsel is free to download, with the complete tracker available and a limit only on how many custom foods and recipes you can create. A single one-time in-app purchase (Morsel Unlimited) through the Apple App Store (or Google Play, when available) removes that limit and adds the features listed on the pricing page, permanently, and grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you own or control, under the store's standard licensed application terms. There is no subscription: all current features are included, and updates we release are included too.

02Not medical advice

Morsel is a self-tracking tool, not a medical device and not a substitute for advice from a doctor, dietitian or other qualified professional. Calorie and macro figures come from public food databases and from what you type in, and can be wrong or out of date. The daily calorie estimate uses a standard population equation (Mifflin-St Jeor) and is a rough starting point, not a prescription. Do not use Morsel to manage a medical condition, and talk to a professional before making significant changes to how you eat. If food tracking feels stressful or harmful to you, please stop using the app — your wellbeing comes first.

03Your content

Everything you log or create in Morsel belongs to you and stays on your device — we never receive a copy. You are responsible for the content you enter and for having the rights to any material you bring into the app. Because your data exists only on your device, you are also responsible for maintaining device backups if you want to protect it.

04Food data

The bundled food database is derived from USDA FoodData Central (public domain) and Open Food Facts (© Open Food Facts contributors, used under the Open Database License, ODbL). The derived database and its build script are published under the ODbL in Morsel's public repository. Nutrition values are provided as-is; check the package label for anything that matters.

05Acceptable use

  • Don’t reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the app except as permitted by law or the app store’s terms.
  • Don’t use Morsel in any way that violates applicable law.
  • Don’t attempt to disrupt or attack this website.

06Refunds

Purchases are processed by Apple and Google, and refunds are handled through them under their policies. If something is wrong with the app, email us at support@morseltracker.app — we would rather fix the problem.

07Disclaimer of warranties

Morsel is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, accuracy of nutrition data, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will produce any particular health or weight outcome.

08Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including lost data or health outcomes — arising from your use of the app or website. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app.

09Changes to the app or these terms

We may update the app and these terms over time. Material changes to the terms will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms. We will never retroactively convert your one-time purchase into a subscription.

10Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the developer is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that state.
