Public roadmap
What's shipped, what's next
Morsel is small on purpose. This page is the honest list: what is in the app today, what is coming, and what we have decided not to build. Every support email is treated as a roadmap item, so if something is missing, tell us.
Up next
Android
NextSame app, same one-time unlock through Google Play, built from the same codebase, with Health Connect in place of Apple Health. No account, so nothing to sync; each phone keeps its own diary.
Home-screen widget
PlannedCalories remaining and a shortcut to scan, without opening the app.
Fiber and sugar
ConsideringThe two most requested numbers beyond the big four. Both are on most labels and in both source databases; the question is keeping the logging screen as quick as it is today.
More foods
OngoingThe bundle is rebuilt from the open sources with every release. If a common product is missing, email the name and barcode and it very likely makes the next build.
Shipped in 1.0
Offline food database
400,000+ foods bundled in the app: USDA generics with household portions, Open Food Facts branded products with barcodes. Search-as-you-type ranks generic foods first and popular brands right behind.
Barcode scanning, free
EAN and UPC codes, resolved on the phone instantly. A miss flows into a custom food with the barcode attached. Torch toggle for dim pantries.
Portion picker
Label servings, household measures like “1 cup” or “2 eggs”, or grams, with live calories and macros.
Today
Calories remaining in a ring, macro subtotals, meals by slot, a day streak. Tap an entry to edit its portion or remove it; “Same as yesterday” on an empty meal.
History, editable
Every day you have logged stays browsable and editable, free, forever.
Goal calculator
Mifflin-St Jeor with an activity multiplier and a lose / maintain / gain choice, floored at 1,200 kcal, always overridable, never medical advice.
Library
Custom foods with serving name and grams, recipes with per-serving macros, favorites and recents.
Dark mode
Plus haptics, accessible labels and locale-aware number entry (comma decimals work).
Morsel Unlimited
$9.99 once: unlimited custom foods and recipes, saved meals, macro goals, trend charts, a weight log with Apple Health two-way sync, and CSV export.
Deliberately not planned
Each of these is either why other trackers charge a subscription or a distraction from “what did I eat and how much is left”.
AI photo logging
Guessing calories from a photo is entertainment, not tracking. A barcode or a search is faster and right.
Diet plans and coaching
Morsel counts; what you eat is between you and, if you like, a professional.
Social feeds, streak shaming, badges
A streak chip is as gamified as it gets.
Water and exercise logging
Other apps do these well, and adding them would slow the one job Morsel has.
Cloud sync and accounts
The reason most trackers charge monthly, and the reason Morsel can promise your diary never leaves your phone.
Ads and subscriptions
Never.
